What became impossible to ignore.
Stacy Reuhl was often the listener, the steady one, the problem-solver, and the emotional translator long before The Higher Kind existed.
When both of her parents became ill and died from cancer while she was still a teenager, there was practical care. There was medical care. There were people who cared. But there was not enough emotional support for what everyone was living through.
That missing layer of care never left her.
Practical care is not the same as emotional care.
Stacy learned that truth needs safety before it can surface. She listens for tone, pace, silence, emotion, and context beneath the words. Not to expose people. To help them feel safe enough to name what may already be true.
Walking beside, not carrying.
The Higher Kind does not rescue, override, or create dependency. The work helps people return to their own knowing, protect dignity, honor autonomy, and stay connected to what matters.
